I'm in the market for a really small portable Laptop for taking notes in classes. I liked the Sony 505 series, but after hearing of the Fujitsu models, was impressed with the price. Does anyone know how well the Crusoe Processor does with internet? I will need the laptop for 802.11b...
it differs from AMD and INTEL cpus in that instead of wasting milions of transistors for out-of-order execution or other neat tricks in the like, a peice of software performs all these operations. it runs on the JIT (just in time) principle much like java. it actually has the effect of speeding things up after time as tho it has the ability to optimize on the run.
as to internet speed, who knows. maybe maybe not. if the chip seems to be able to run faster and faster due to remembering the way it did it last and doing it better next time, then maybe internet usage might be effected too.
