Just cause 2 game lags at higest resolution

Hello,
i have
intel pentium d processor with 3 ghz speed and 1gb ddr2 nvidia geforce9400gt graphics card and i have 2 gb of ram but still just cause game lags at 1280*1024 resolution please help me if i have to change any settings and is this configuration optimal to play games like battel field 3

The game lags because your computer is weak. The CPU is old and weak in comparison to what has been released in the past 5 years and the 9400GT is not really meant for games it's more for media.

Yes, you should be glad the game is playable at all. Both your CPU and video card are very poor for current games.
