Hello,
I have a Phenom II x4 955 and a gtx 460. I have to overclock the gpu to prevent lagging on the low presets, is this normal? Im running this on 1680x1050

My lag is not connection related.

When i ran the game on stock speeds I had 10-20 fps on low presets. I overclocked the core to 800ghz and the memory to 1600ghz and then I could play low on 60 fps constantly. My GPU is pretty much maxed when i check it with afterburner.

Im surprised at this cards current performance because sites that have benchmarked the card said it would get 40-50 fps on high settings at my resolution.

When i put it high settings the game just stutters and its unplayable.

BF3 recommends a HD5850 which is one notch above your card, so it should play just fine. I'm counting on about 56fps with my old card on high settings.

I don't see how you could possibly go from 10-20fps to constant 60fps by doing a small gpu overclock. Doesn't make any sense to me and seems quite impossible.\

What are the stock clocks for your specific card? Some are 675, some are as high as 780.

Did you just get the card? Do you have the latest BF3 drivers? They released drivers specifically for BF3.

Do you have problems with other games?

According to this chart, your card (the 1gb model) should get 47fps at 1680x1050 on high quality. You have less Vram so yours should be at around at least 40fps. 60fps on low settings sounds about right.
