Most definitly. The X79 chipset supports PCI-E GEN 3.0 so it would definitly work on that motherboard.

Even if you have a motherboard with only PCI-E GEN 2.0, the GEN 3 video cards are backwards compatable with PCI-e GEN 2.0, but it won't have the GEN 3.0 features.
