Hi all,

Please see below for my spec I'm building but I`m struggling to get an answer of which motherboard will be best for my setup? Hoping someone can help.

Here is the spec of my new PC :

Intel Core i5 3550 3.3GHz Socket 1155 6MB Cache Retail Boxed Processor
Gigabyte GTX 650 2GB GDDR5 VGA Dual DVI HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card
G.Skill 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory
Corsair 500W CX Builder 80 Plus Bronze PSU

I don't know whether to get :

Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H Socket 1155 VGA DVI HDMI 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

or any of

Asus motherboard P8B75-M LE LGA1155 DDR3 mATX - £58
Asus motherboard P8B75-M LX LGA1155 DDR3 SATA 600 mATX - £46
Asus motherboard P8B75-M LGA1155 DDR3 mATX - £68

Please can someone advise and tell me which one would be best based on the above spec?

Thanks.

I would* get a h77 for that cpu, no point in getting a z77 board, this one is rich in features : http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007RQ0MDA/
I'd get the i5-3470 which is less and spend in the 650 ti or 7850 for a card.

Apologies. The card I'm buying is the - EVGA GTX 650 Ti SuperSuperClocked 2GB GDDR5 Dual DVI Mini HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card.

Would the Asus be no good? That card you linked me to, does it support all of the other components I've listed above? Don't want to end up at stage one again. Does it support HD gaming too? Can't see any mention of HD 1080p.

(Please excuse me I'm a noob with things like this).

No, the asus board is decent and it's compatible, but the asrock board has more features for the money, and you mean board, the asrock motherboard has a hdmi port with support for that resolution, but since you have a card obviously you'll connect it to the gfx card, which supports also that resolution.

The only reason I ask is I want to make sure the motherboard I buy is compatible with the i5 chip I've bought and the memory. (G.Skill 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX Memory)

Any motherboard with the b75, h77, z77 supports that cpu out of the box, the same for the ram, i still recommend going with the asrock h77 pro4-m, it's almost at the same price as the asus, it's a better board, you don't need the gigabyte z77 for the cpu, unless you can get that board cheap, otherwise, get the h77.

thanks DJ.
I've found two:

Asrock H77 Pro4-M Socket 1155 VGA DVI HDMI 7.1 Channel Audio mATX Motherboard
Asrock H77 PRO4/MVP Socket 1155 VGA DVI HDMI 7.1 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

there's £8 difference. Is the latter a better one?
