Someone has just told me that the processor that i was going to get is not compatible with my motherboard. It is a Dell dxp061. I would like to know what processors are compatibe with my motherboard, and are there any that would be at least 3.0GHz and 4mb cache. Thanks!

errr whats the current processor? I cant find any info on this computer.

ok after a little bit of googling.I i think you have the Intel Q6600, which has a socket LGA 775. So any Core 2 processor will work.
I don't think its worth it to change the cpu though. Your socket is old and stores don't really sell those cpus anymore. If they do, they jack up the price because supply is low.

Can't really tell you much if we don't know the current processor. If you could go to your start menu, then click computer. It should tell you the exact processor you're running at the bottom of that page. Then we can get a better idea of what we are dealing with

Currently this is your processor based on your clock speed
http://www.amazon.com/Intel-E6300-1-86Ghz-Fsb1066Mhz-Lga775/dp/B0017PJ0K8/ref=sr_1_14?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1360719796&sr=1-14
Sells for $34+shipping

So there is a huge room for improvement in the lga775 socket

There is this
Runs a little bit slower than 3Ghz, but its also a quad core chip, so it is still a huge improvement
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Processor 2.66 GHz 4 MB Cache Socket LGA775

http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Q8400-Processor-Socket-LGA775/dp/B002654FQM/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1360719977&sr=1-1&keywords=lga775

$158 plus shipping

Now it should be the same socket as yours, so this should work

So the $158 should fit or should both of those fit?

The one that is $34 is your current processor.
The one that costs $158 is the same socket as yours so therefore should fit.

I would still check to make sure your motherboard accepts the Q8000 series processors. Same socket, but it might not be supported. I can try to do some more research on the system to see if it will work though
