AMD graphics usually offers more performance for a given price range then Nvidia in gaming but this also depends on the game. How much money are planning to spend on graphics?

You could use a i5 2500K instead and use the money saved to get a better graphics card.

In gaming there is little to no difference between the i7-2600K and i5-2500K. The big difference between the two processors is the hyper-threading technology in the i7 and games just don't take advantage of it yet so the two perform indistinguishably close.
