  1. http://www.home-computer-support.org/american-megatrends-bios.html#What Is BIOS. Identify the cmos jumper first before adjusting the bios settings. If you change a setting, the board may not even post, and you have to reset the bios to default using the cmos jumper or by removing the motherboard battery for about one minute, then replace. If your system runs well, don't flash the bios or you may end up with a dead motherboard. If you don't care (have an older board) and have the money to replace it, then you can try flashing it, but often the results won't change the board specs enough to make it worth the risk. To enter the bios, press the "del" key just before you get a post screen; after resetting the bios to default, the post screen will tell you what key to press; you change the boot order, set the "smartfan" settings if you don't like the fan noise, save and exit using the f10 key.

    Thank you.
    What is cmos jumper?
What do you mean with flashing the bios?
Why has the motherboard a battery?
    Thank you.
