I recently built my first computer, I was planing on using my hard drive from my old system but when I tried this I had problems. Long story short I came to realize that since it was a completely new system I couldn't use the same HDD without restoring it. But I dont want to lose everything so I decided to buy a SSD to boot from. So my question is, is there any way I can go about only copying the OS from my HDD to my SSD? or can I just install windows 7 on the new one and leave the old one how it is just dont boot from it? What is my best option what do you guys think I should do? I just dont want to lose everything.
Thanks for any help.

if its an OEM version of windows you are not allowed to install it on two different drives .

If the existing hard drive came from an OEM manufacturer like HP, ACER etc it probably wont even install in a different motherboard/HDD
