Low ping, extreme amount of lag?

Very recently, I purchased the NetGear Wireless-N 150 Router WNR1000. While playing MW2, I always get a ping of 30-70 on the servers I lay at, however, even with that ping, I am lagging as much as a second behind everyone else. of course, I thought that the router must be the problem, so I unplugged it, and tried plugging my computer into my Comcast modem. Unfortunately, the problem persists, i already verified that I don't need drivers for my router, so i can't think of anything else.
