I need some help with building my new PC. I'm trying to stay within a budget of 400 dollars and I want a PC that can play most modern games with at least 30 fps. The parts I currently already have are:

SPARKLE GeForce GTS 250 512mb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814187070

Hitachi HDP725050GLA360 http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-Desk [...] B001NIFRYW

and I am currently thinking about getting these parts:

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231314

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Deneb 3.2GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103999

ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813157280

Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811147153

XFX Core Edition PRO550W (P1-550S-XXB9) 550W ATX12V http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817207013

Any help would be appreciated.

The card you selected doesn't support DX 11. If you are cool with that, OK. But otherwise you can get a Radeon 5750 for a little over $80 if you look and get higher frames, better quality HD decoding, and better API support.

$129.99 AMD A6-3670K Unlocked Llano 2.7GHz Socket FM1 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 6530D

This is the board i have below, with a A6-3650 apu. 2.6ghz stock, 26 multi, locked of course.
3.51ghz, 135fsb.1.45volts. It runs cool, arctic cooling 13pro cooler, 31c max temp so far.

$94.99 GIGABYTE GA-A75M-UD2H FM1 AMD A75

$35.99 Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

I was lucky and picked kingston memory that has short coolers on them like this set has. It barely clears the cpu cooler. Memory with taller heat spreaders on them will hit the cpu cooler on this small packed micro atx board. Also i was lucky and the memory was installed before the cooler, you must install the memory before the cooler.

Its just a alternative to your phenomII build that's all. I noticed the "k" Llano is out.
I dont think having the "k" will gain much for overclocking, on my board the apu fails testing before the fsb crashes on my board, so 3.51ghz is about it for that chip.

Unless amd is binning them a bit better for the K series.

a note on overclocking Llano: It seems to go unstable much over a 105 MHz FSB, then restabilizes at 133 MHz, so try that

Ya i forgot to mention that, the pci bus resets at 134. I also set the mem at 1066, it follows the fsb and ends up at 1470mhz. I have ddr3-1600 kingston mem, 1.65 volts.

I am thinking the "K" can maybe do 135 times 28 multi or 3.76ghz.

Soon people will be posting their overclocks so we can see how the K does.

I would still run the 250 with the Llano. The 250 is alot faster then the integrated Llano gpu.
