I'm in a bit of a pickle, a friend of mine who is now currently overseas is going to build his first PC and with no experiences myself with the AM3+ motherboards I was wondering if he could just plug in the 8350FX chip without flashing the motherboard to get it up and running?

Looking up the official website of Asus they've got this:

CPU Since PCB Since BIOS
FX-8350(FD8350FRW8KHK,4.0GHz,8C,125W,rev.C0,AM3+) ALL 1006

as opposed to for an example
Since PCB Since BIOS
Athlon X2 5200+(GM),2.3GHz,1MB,rev.C3,65W,AD5200OCK22GM,SocketAM3 ALL 0219

Thank you for reading.

For some bizzare reason I am unable to edit my post to tidy it up basically

FX-8350 = Bios 1006 - PCB = ALL.

Earlier chips = Bios 0219 - PCB = ALL

Assuming the PCB has any relevance at all.

id suggest getting this board instead. sabertooth isnt really worth it

the board has usb bios flashback. if he needs to update the bios for whatever reason, all he needs to do is put the bios file on a usb stick, press the flashback button, and he is ready to go. no need for a CPu or ram whatsoever
