Surround Sound Help

When it comes to computers i know enough to fix most problems i have.
But when it comes to audio... I know just about nothing.

I have a z77x-ud3h gigabyte motherboard and i don't know if it have stereo, 5.1, or 7.1 audio.

I was looking to get this headset:

Which has usb so either way i would be able to use it but i've been told that the normal audio connectors are better quality.

Any help is much appreciated

Your motherboard will support both 5.1 and 7.1 audio.

I prefer the stereo connectors to USB as they are easier to manage but the quality difference is negligible.
