Hey guys, I am looking into getting a new videocard to run battlefield 3/Skyrim!

my specs (the important ones at least):
-Intel core i3 550 3.4Ghz
-EVGA gts450 1g (yeah i know, its not that great)
-8gb 4 sticks ADATA memory
-OCZ FATALITY 550w PSU

I play at 1600x900 resolution, also AA does not really apply to me that much, I will usually run games with it very low or not at all, because honestly if a game is engrossing to me, I won't notice every little edge.

What I really want to do is run battlefield 3 at ultra or almost ultra, same with skyrim.

I was really looking into a GTX570 but in reality, that is a little too much for a videocard for me.

This is the card I am looking into

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-130-...

now, is this card sufficient for BF3 and skyrim? at least on high or nearly ultra on a 1600x900 resolution with AA disabled?

or should i shove out the extra $100 and get a GTX570? like i said I really want a 570, but that would really hurt my wallet because I plan on getting an Core i7.

The GTX560Ti or HD6950 1GB would be what I would match with your system

I agree with rolli59.

You won't get full out Ultra settings in BF3, but probably very close since your resolution is 1600x900. Skyrim should be less demanding.

I have just upgraded my graphics card from a 3870x2 to a radeon 6850.

Rest of my specs are q6600 2.4 ghz and 4gb ram

With the new card I can run BF3 at ultra settings 1080p in single player (deferred anti aliasing off ) and average about 45 fps and never drops below 30 fps.

the card only cost me £119 on Amazon.

If you are running at 1600x900 I would suggest you go for the 560 and save the 100 bucks (or get the 6850 its a bargain and does a great job at BF3, Witcher 2 and Crysis 2)

PS ... you could always get one 6850 now and crossfire with another one down the line.....

I have never looked into an ATI, I'm an EVGA type of guy, but that doesn't mean I won't give it a look. I'm kinda iffy on switching over though.

I'd get a GTX570 if I were you, games are much more GPU dependant and BF3 isn't bottlenecked by newer CPU's at all.

I would like a GTX570, but I don't think skyrim will be as demanding as BF3, neither do i think alot of future games will, but only problem is not knowing :p

I have an MSi Twin Frozr III GTX 570, and it runs great! I would go for a GTX 570.
