Corsair ram problems

I have just bought 2 x 4gb Corsair ram CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 www.corsair.com/cmx8gx3m2a1333c9.html to add to the 2 x 2gb TR3X6G1333C9 I already have.

I can start up normally but if I do anything it bluescreens. I can start up in safemode and it does show the ram as 12gb.

I have tried using only the new ram but that bluescreens too.

Have i done something stupid?

you cant mix and match dimms. the odds are that they dont work since you have purchased them at different times. the materials that corsair uses will have likely been changed, rendering your old ram and new ram incompatable

I have tried using the new ram on its own but that doesnt work either. Do I have to change settings?

the ram should run fine at stock settings. if there is xmp on your board, enable it. if not, i think you got a bad kit of ram
