ASUS Rampage IV Extreme

So my question is I am getting a Rampage IV Extreme motherboard, which has RealTek 898 for it audio chip. And I was wondering Should i purchase a Sound card and which one.

From what I been reading ASUS xonar STX is the way to go, but i dont know if it will be worth it , since the Rampage has a RealTek 898 on it.

And i also cant find any good infomation on the RealTek 898

Of if theres another sound card that i am not seeing that would be better please let me know

Most onboard sound cards perform very well, although if you have a very high budget then you might as well.

As hasbot implied, test out the onboard sound first. It might very well meet your expectations.

The onboard Audio is fine, But I personally put in a discrete sound card which is my preference
