So I am building another computer as a computer to use as a spare for me and a spare for people to use when I go to LAN parties. I have some parts lying around already that I intend to use.
Approximate Purchase Date: Sooner rather than later, whenever I come to a decision on parts
Budget Range: >$350
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming
Parts Not Required: Nvidia 8800GTX 768MB (I really do not intend changing this), Thermaltake TR2 600W, monitor/mouse/keyboard, RAM, boot drives with Windows (I might still need storage)
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Tigerdirect/Newegg/Frys (store)
Country: Not sure what this means, but I live in California
Parts Preferences: I would prefer a Micro-ATX mobo and case for portability. I would also like a lower-end motherboard so I do not provoke myself to change the motherboard with the one I have in my main current rig (I vowed to keep everything the way it is).
SLI or Crossfire: No
Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 (TV)
Additional Comments: I would very much prefer a Micro-ATX form factor as well as the case.
I was looking at getting an AMD Triple core with a low end motherboard. An aftermarket cooler is a maybe, I like them and the stock AMD coolers are loud and lame. I have Some DDR3 Corsair Vengance 4GB 1600MHz lying around.
The case does need to be over the top either, yet I would prefer quiet (not a huge deal) with good airflow.
I have boot drives with Windows, but one of them is a lousy 200GB and one 320GB. I was going to get new ones, but with hard drive prices through the roof, I was thinking of just using those for now.
I have to say that is one nice looking case, and I will probably go with the 2400 now that you say it. Would it go nice with my 8800GTX? I am looking to play some higher end games, like Shogun 2, Shift 1+2, GTAIV, SR3, BFBC2, Borderlands, etc.
I know the processor would go nice and I don't really want to invest in a newer card, so I'm more or less stuck.
And how are the stock Intel coolers? I wouldn't mind getting an aftermarket, but the AMD ones are really loud and inefficient.
Also, would my current RAM (Corsair Vengance 1600MHz) work with the motherboard since it is 1600MHz? Would this one work better?
