I need a new micro ATX motherboard - any suggestions?

I'm currently using a cheap H61M motherboard, I need a mobo that will fit in a fractal design 1000 case, support SLI + Crossfire + overclocking + i5-i7 processors, it also needs to be fairly cheap, thanks!

  1. H61 chipset won't allow overclocking except for mild turbo mode which doesn't amount to much. Here's a cheap z77 board that will give you some options:

  2. Hmm, thanks for the response, a few queries though.

Would it be good for SLI/Crossfire considering how close together the two slots are?
Will it definately fit in my case?
Also, is PCI 2.0 work with PCI 3.0?

    Thanks.

With Micro ATX, there is only one way that SLI/Crossfire will work, and its the way that motherboard has it set up. The card fits in slots 1 and 3 out of 1 2 3 4.

If your case supports Micro ATX it will fit.

PCI 2.0 and PCI 3.0 are different, but that motherboard has both.
  4. Sounds good, what if my case is USB 2.0 whereas the mobo has usb 3.0, is 2.0 compatible with 3.0?
