ASrock P45TS w/ 8gb DDR3 not registering mem?

Hello, I just put new corsair vengence memory in my rig with an asrock p45ts mobo which suports up to 8gb ram and in the bios it shows the 8gb but when i go to my pc > propertise it says 3.12gb ram. Also to note im running win xp.

Do you think im getting the performance of the full 8gb?

Hi,

Please check if you're in 32 Bit or 64 Bit OS. 32 Bit recognizes upto 3 to 3.5 GB out of 4 GB. Above 4 GB, 64 Bit OS needs to be installed.
