Greetings, :)

I would like to buy a new IVB CPU together with an ASUS P8Z77 motherboard next month in order to upgrade my old gaming desktop. Will I face any bottleneck issues? If no, shall I buy i5 3570K or i7 3770K ?

My specs:

PSU: Enermax Infinity PSU (720W)
GPU: ASUS Nvidia Geforce GTX285
CASE: THERMALTAKE VI4000BWS M9D WINDOW BLACK
HDD: SEAGATE BARRACUDA 7200.11 ST3500320AS 500GB SATA2
OPT DRIVES:: PIONEER DVR-116DBK, ASUS DVD-E818AT SATA
MONITOR: SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER T220 22"
RAM:: Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM (recently bought)

Looking forward to your feedback.

No you are more than fine, although I don't really see the hype about IB. The only real perk to it is the onboard GPU is better but I see you will not be using it so whats wrong with saving some $$ and getting a 2500K?

I have to agree, unless you're building something without a dedicated graphics card I would not spend the money on Ivy Bridge.

And completely useless to date. We have no GPU's that are bottlenecked by a 2.0 bus so 3.0 is just overkill and IMHO more of a marketing gimmick. I'm sure we will see a market wide shift to 3.0 but it will not be until the GPU market is is capable of utilizing it.
