Hey everyone! I am new to pc gaming.
I have:

A6-3600 APU processor( 4 cores clocked @ 2.1 with turbo boost up to 2.4).
4 gb of ddr3 ram( upgrading to 8 gb)
I am also upgrading my PSU to 600 watts from 300 watts
I am getting XFX dual fan Amd radeon hd 6870 gpu as an upgrade.

Being an intergraded gpu, can i still upgrade to Radeon 6870?( i do have a pcle 2.0 x16 slot on my motherboard)
Will the amd radeon 6870 crossfire with the inbuilt gpu in the processor?
Will that make a decent gaming PC?
Will i be able to crunch out high to ultra graphics settings in games such as BF3, Mass Effect 3 etc with decent fps?
pleasee reply, I would really apreciate it :)

Solution
You're in the right place to ask questions.
From the THG review: Picking A Sub-$200 Gaming CPU: FX, An APU, Or A Pentium?

I think you have a chance of running BF3 on Ultra settings. But I also think you'll have to dial things down a bit to get smooth, stable frame rates.
Where you will notice the A6 performance the most will be in multiplayer which leans on the CPU pretty heavily.
The good news is that BF3 in High and Medium settings looks excellent!

Hmm not really sweating too much about the crossfire! But i can run the radeon 6870 flawless right ? and is my processor good enough to run high end games(e.g.BF3) with ultra- to - high settings with decent fps ? Sorry if the question was repetitive but just making sure and thnks for replying the post, waiting for your reply!

I have hp2311x, 1920x1080 @ 60hz!
is that good?
So my cpu is not good enough?
Does cpu really play that much role in gaming?
sorry I am just starting on pc stuff so have lot of questions on my head!

Hmmm thank you so much! So does Battlefield 3 at high mid on pc look better than the graphics on gaming consoles?
And i looked up the benchmark of my processor. It was at rank 144. and then i looked up benchmark for the athlon x2 64 bit 5000+(which is recommended cpu for Batman Arkham City) it was at 623!!! There is a huge difference eh? Do u think the huge gap is because of the in built gpu?

The IGP does not affect the gap in performance. A6's performance is more than 3 times better based on running Passmark benching software.
But that software suite isn't the best predictor for gaming rigs.

Passmark CPU benchmark scores:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ = 1345
AMD A6-3600 APU = 4631

Hmm thnks, so in conclusion, if i upgrade my gpu to radeon 6870 and with my a6 quad core, i should be in pretty good shape huh? I mean not the top most but like "bf3 on mid high" rite? So should i go for radeon 6870? and btw is pcle 2.0 and 2.1 intercompatible?
