I bought a Kodak Z740 today to take and share pics tomorrow, Mothers Day.
My boys are actually giving it to me as a gift. I started to install the
EasyShare
software, got tossed out because of the Windows XP installer issue,
downloaded the newer software from the Kodak site and rebooted the system.
I find lots of files have been installed but no icon on the desktop to start
up the software, no exe files on the CD to do same. When I use Control
Panel to add the camera, it doesn't find it and of course MS photo sharing
software comes alive and wants to take control. I have other Canon software
installed for my videocamera and even that isnt picking up the new digital.
What have I done wrong? Your help would be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Marianne (trying to get ready to take pics of my grandaughter tomorrow)

You should be able to just plug in the USB cable and access the camera
from Windows Explorer. Have you tried that?

Greetings Marianne,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I suspect something went amiss with the
installer?

Try the following to see if you can install the program.

Use the Add Remove feature of Windows to find and remove the EasyShare
program. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove and scroll
through the list to find a listing for EasyShare software. If it is not
there, then the program did not install. If you do find it, remove it. Once
it is gone, go to the following URL and Follow the instructions to run the
clear utility. It will remove any residual files from the system. Once you
have run the clear feature, reboot your system.

After reboot, turn off any protection programs, i.e. Power drive, virus
protection, firewalls, etc. Go to the following site to directly download
EasyShare. Click Open to let the site install directly over the web. Follow
the online directions. Once it is complete, reboot your system with all
programs live. EasyShare should we working fine at this point.

If you have any trouble, let me know at what point it occurs. Are you seeing
an error report? I will help you get the software installed correctly.
Talk to you soon, enjoy your camera and the new software.
