Got 16gb ram installed but only 8 show up

Ok berfore we begin, here are my specs

Ok, 1 more thing. I am not pro when it comes to this stuff so anything you require me to do may also require a step by step tut.

So basicly I have checked in my computer and there are 4x4GB ram sticks in it. they are all working along with the slots but when I check my system settings. I only have 8gb? I have been told already to try putting memory remapping to the opposite function to what it is currently but I cannot find that setting anywhere in my bios (p.s im have asus EFI BIOS)

How do I fix this?

What make/model of memory are you using? When you installed the memory, are you sure you installed all 4 DIMMs correctly (retainers clicked into place)?

I believe I am using Corsair XMS 3 and they are all 4gb sticks. There all in and secure. As for DIMM's Im not too sure what that is but my father built up my computer and all and he got me the ram sticks. or atleast 2. but when I had 2 I only got 4 GB, so my brother gave me 2 more and now I get 8GB so basicly my computer is halving the ram I give it.

DIMMs are the memory modules (sticks). Are you 100% sure you have 4GB DIMMs and not 2GB DIMMs?

Also, how much memory does your BIOS report having?

It would be useful to know the exact model number of the memory you are using. You can google, download, and install CPU-Z to get that information.

I am certain, I checked and they all say 4gb. there is 4 of them. Also I am downloading the cpu-z now so i'll get back to you

Those are 2GB memory modules, not 4GB. They are generally sold in pairs (2x2GB).
