Amd FX 4170 vs Amd Phenom ii x4 965

What should i get? Play alot of league of legends and sc2, sometimes i stream league of legends, so what do you think would be the best for me? i know sc2 is really cpu intensive and i had lag on my previous athlon x3 3.2ghz cpu i had

In your position I'd get the Phenom II X4 965.
Or the Phenom II X4 975 3.6Ghz for $5 more if you're looking at getting an aftermarket CPU cooler anyway.

Yeah i was thinking of getting an aftermarket cooler and getting the OEM chip, but also, should i get a amd3+ mobo for possible future upgrades or just get a am3? like will the phenom work fine in a am3+ is what im asking i guess lol.

well the AM3+ should be worth it if you choose to upgrade within the next 2-3 years as there won't be AM4 until ddr4 is out and thats going to be a while.

The Phenom II X4 975 would work in the AM3+ boards - no problems there.
You might find a slightly better deal on an AM3 board. Im most cases people keep the same motherboard/CPU through a gaming system's lifespan, with just graphic card updates to keep up with future games.
