Will there ever be a way to communicate wirelessly with the PC to transfer
photos, use Nikon capture, etc.?
I would think there would be a way to connect a USB wireless
transmitter/receiver into the USB port of the camera. Is there already such
a device for the D70?

No and the camera doesn't support it and is unlikely to ever support it.

Nikon or a third party could make such a thing if they thought it was
worthwhile, but probably not enough D70 shooters would want it.

While Canon did release an updated firmware to enable the 20D which enabled
it to use the 1D's wireless accessory, Nikon hasn't given any indication
that they intend to release such an enhancement for the D70.

The more I think about this, the more I want it in every camera. I just
don't like messing around with cables or card readers.

Yeah, I've been wanting to try a Cardbus card reader. Upload speed
isn't the issue with me though, I just am not crazy about taking the
card out of the camera or finding a USB cable whenever I want to
transfer a few pictures. So I tend to use the CF card like film, i.e.
leave it in the camera for weeks or months til it starts getting full
or til there's some specific pics I want to put online; then upload
all the files. It would be a lot nicer with wireless since I'd just
upload the pics as I take them or as soon as the computer was nearby.

Well one possibility is to get a laptop with a small footprint and wireless
support, and keep it with the camera, and from your other pcs, network into the
small laptop and control the camera.
In terms of transfer, but not capture, there is wi-pics, but since it costs
more than the D70 kit costs, I suspect it isn't an option:

that wouldn't be cool at the consumer market - the pros would lose too much
money that way i.e. it'll never happen!

How exactly would wireless transfer lose money for a pro?

I think the notion is that anything that helps people do stuff better
themselves, reduces the need for pros. That sometimes does happen but
in general the notion is bogus.

If I just bought some good Air Jordans, I could play in the NBA!

The photographers at Disney World have a wireless pda setup that they use
to transmit pictures to a central server/store where people can go buy the
pictures. The pda is attached via the usb port on the camera.

Won't they love the New Kodak Easy One! No need for the PDA, and a nice
camera as well.
