Not to mention that anything more than 60fps is a waste of power! You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 60fps and 200fps. I would go for the 570 since you could later SLi them and get more HP than the 590. Even two 560ti's would get you up to 60 fps on BF3, and the price is reasonable.

Yes what Cash091 said is true to a degree but it depends on your monitors refresh rate. If you have a 60hz monitor than anything over 60fps will be a waste. Obviously its alway nice to have more power than less, but it comes at a price and you have to decide if its worth the price.

A 570 will do you well @ 1080 especialy on "High" settings were you will get 60fps, there is very little difference between "High" and "Ultra" its mainly just an added AA setting (4x MSAA) on "Ultra".

As I have said that choice is up to you. I would get the 570 (which I did) because I don't think the extra money for the 580 is worth it, so I bought the 570. But do you think the extra money for the 580 is worth it? Thats what you need to ask yourself.

I agree with what everyone else is saying. If you have even the slightest whimper of a budget, then a GTX 570 is a great purchase.

Having said that, the GTX 580 may be able to hold a better constant framerate with less hiccups and dips. It's hard to tell from those average FPS graphs what the gameplay was actually like.

There is no doubt that a 580 will have slightly better performance than a 570, but is it better value?.....no, it isn't.

The OP needs to ask himself if the slight extra gain in performance is worth the price.

Also saphire has a 6970 version bundled with battlefield 3 ^_^ you can grab that one. Sadly, the ATI league has a little bit of problem ,driver wise, with the game. No worries it will be fixed in no time :p.

you mean BF3 needs a couple of patches. The drivers just map dx to the hardware. If the calculations is wrong no mount of driver updates will fix it only patches to the game itself.
I notice a couple of posts people having problems with the 560ti which surely say the game is the culprit

dunno. Played it almost a week ago last. Work/wife and kids I don't have the time I use to have lol Maybe I'm getting too old for this crap

I guess it depends on the review you are using to decide:

Focusing on the minimum FPS, the GTX 580 will allow you to play consistently without dipping into unplayability. BF3 needs all the horsepower you can afford.

I want to play the game on mostly high i can turn aa all eye candy off really... and run it on 60-100 fps i could even put some stuff on medium for it to work because im not a graphics whore and can barely tell the difference.

if i get the 570 should i buy the 2.5gb version or would that be pointless?

if i get the 580 its either zotac, asus, evga which would be the best? zotac is 20 euros cheaper.

i just want the card to be solid for BF3 because its what i will be playing til GTA V comes out. i just dont want unstable fps and good/decent graphics and gameplay.
