Hope this query doesn't seem too pointless; but others seem to have been answered politely, so I'll give it a go.
I currently have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 in a Fortress 2 running with an i7-930 (Scythe Mugen Cooler V2 cooled) and an old ATI 5970; one PCIE slot is utilised by the Creative Sound Blaster Z.
Don't know if here, or 'systems' is the better place to dump it; but on balance I think part of my problem is the X58A-UD7 motherboard cooler, so I've put it here.
Was looking at upgrading to SLI 690s or Titans (now that it seems the 'only 10,000 worldwide' thing isn't accurate).
Does anyone have any experience in fitting two 'two slot' graphics cards into a Fortress 2/X58A-UD7 set up? I don't want to bother with the SLI (at least at the mo) if there isn't a way to make room on the board/in the box. The 5970 is currently not in the closest slot to the CPU because the mo'bo' cooler fills up one of the PCI-E slots. Is there any special reason to keep that on there?
I'm waiting for the next CPU release before replacing board/cpu; on reading various articles around I could probably overclock the 930 (the Mugen is probably wasted without an OC anyway) and overcome any bottleneck, and I'm still tax-deducting it till June 2013 anyway, so I don't *quite* have a tax reason to dump it (especially since it sounds like I'll only be waiting till Q3/4 this year)
