Home studio recording

Hello, i'm in the process of building a home studio to start recording a demo for my band a sum bands of friends. i need advice on what sound card to get. i have recording and mixing software, i have half jack to quarter jack converters. all i need is a good card that will produce good quality tracks on vocals, bass, guitar and electric drum kit. and accompany for a synth pedal. thankyou

My best advice is to visit Guitar Center's web site, or even a store in person if possible.

Unfortunately I have slept many moons since I messed with this stuff, so my info would be woefully out of date. The card I had was some sort of Turtle Beach affair, but I cannot remember much else.
