Well the cooler isn't compatible with the i7's LGA 1155 chip. I would recomend the Cooler Master 212 Evo
If your not going to overclock you don't need an aftermarket cooler, that will knock off a couple bucks.

I wouldn't recomend a P67 chipset, I would go with a Z68 chipset like this it has the ability to later add a SSD for cache later, upgrade ability is better later on also.

That appears to be triple channel RAM. Get the dual channel, 2X4GB sticks.
Do you plan to SLI your video?
Yep. the PSU is overkill for this setup.
What do you plan on using this computer for?

First off you guys are awesome with your fast Suggestions. I dont plan on SLI no if i need to replace the card i will replace it with a single card at some point.
It will be a gaming machine rig mostly right now for Star Wars the old republic which i know it will handle just wanted some future growing room as well for newer games that come. The suggestions are great. I was thinking of droping to the i5 and it seems like thats a good option.

Will check with the store for the product suggestions you gave. Will post back with new build and see if its suitable. :)  So lower PSU and lower to i5. If i OC the i5 will the cooler master 212 you recommended handle that? Thanks again

i5 2500k is better option...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

as for ram a pair of 8gb 1600mhz should be sufficient...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

get a z68... there are some cheaper models as well..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

as for psu unless you go for sli/crossfire or heavy overclock otherwise any single gpu card with mild overclock will be okay with 650 watt unit...

I've had to return 3 asrock boards never had an issue with ASUS. Little more but you gotta remember this if what everything else is based on. IMO :sol:

only thing i'd change is the gpu. for that price range, go for 6870 like phenom suggested, or upgrade to the 560 ti like jacknaylor linked if you want to stay nvidea

January 3, 2012 3:25:55 PM

Ok changing to the 560 Ti which i had originally but different model. Now only concerm i have is motherboard. There seems to be some differnt opinions on if the asrock will work as well as the Asus. I would rather pay a bit more to be safe. So any final thoughts on a motherboard solution. Any last thoughts ? hillmanant has me worried about paying less for motherboard now.

out of 1000 motherboards that were produced... there will be fews that had flaws... this not only occured with asrock... but asus... gigabyte.... and other vendors as well... this is why warranty is given covers along with their product... there's no guarantee that you will be 100% no problem if you buy asus motherboard... i would still say... go for asrock z68 extreme3 gen3...
m

January 3, 2012 3:37:36 PM

the asrock is a well respected board, and with anything, there will be some with problems... asrock or asus. both will work great with your setup. its a 2yr warranty with asrock vs 3 yr warranty with asus. the asus has a better LAN and more 6gb sata ports... but either way you go, it should work great

Ok i know i say this alot but thanks for all your feedback. i am putting in a Wireless card so lan isnt a concern. So will go with Asrock like you are saying So final build

Yes the thermaltake Frio is compatable with the lga 1155 platform. I have it on an i7 2600k and it works very well.

I also have the ASUS sabertooth p67 and it is a very solid motherboard

Yeah i do need the wirless sadly. I prefer to run cable but to start at my new place may need wireless. And i would also prefer to stick with the Nvidia card myself so if you dont see any other savings then great this is it. Might consider that other power supply Phenom when i call to order based on stock. Thanks again all for all your help. Will post back once i get built and let you know how its running. :)
