Unfortunetly, open-wheel (IRL, CART, F1, etc) racers must not be popular
enough to make more sim/games based on it. :/

I have "Gran Turismo 3/4" (PS2), "Forza Motorsports" (XBox), "NASCAR Thunder
2004" (PS2), but while all of these are great would love to see a really
good open-wheel race sim. I have "IndyCar 2005" (XBox), which is pretty
good but would love an F1 sim.

Anyone have EA's "F1 Career Challenge"? All the reviews on the web for it
seem to rate it pretty low, but it also appears that the reviewers seem to
be a little subjective against open-wheel. "IndyCar 2005" reviews pretty
low, but I found it to be a pretty good game. Graphics, of course, leave a
bit to be desired after GT4 and Forza, but I love the game play. Takes
quite a bit of patience and endurance (not very forgiving at 240 MPH!), but
thats to be expected. Bumping wheels, NASCAR-style, in open-wheels can end
both your game and existance. :^)

Must not had been many presses of "F1 Career Challenge" since it appears to
be more expensive than other titles of the same age. (?). Going for like
$30 used. Just wondered if others found it enjoyable -- or if there was any
open-wheel console (PS2/XBox) racer out there?

Cheers!

I haven't tried it on consoles, but played its predecessors on the
PC. Yep, console open-wheelers have left something to be desired.
Grand Prix challenge gets pretty good reviews and was a budget
title right out of the gate. I have it and still honestly don't
fully warm up to it. It is better than EA Sports previous console
F1 sims (pre F1CC). But not of the calibre of GT3/4 or Forza.
Still, you might want to try to find it and give it a spin.

F1CC was a good game ruined by poor control. All of EA'sF1 games had poor
control.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. Normally check back on threads but had to leave
town for a few days.

Agreed that it's unfortunate open-wheel isn't more popular here. :/

Cheers!
