No boot device available

Hi guys, having major PC problems at the minute the minute. Really need help!

The computer screen reads...
"strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for utility set up"

I have...
-Checked all cables & battery
-Went into the BIOS & reset to factory settings
-Tried to go to boot menu & select boot from hard drive
-tried to run a repair with windows disc but PC wont boot from it
-i have tried the HDD in another PC & it works fine. (thankfully i was able to back up all my data)

HELP!

SATA.

Thanks but the above information is no good as I cant boot from a windows disc

System Specs:

Dell - Dimension E250
Intel Core 2 - 4300 @ 1.8ghz
2 x 512 DDR2
WD HDD - WD3200AAK'S 320gb

Running Windows 7.

Dont know what graphics card or motherboard sorry!

so it POST's and you can get into BIOS and see the drive... and the drive is listed to be #1 in the boot order... and your controller is set to IDE...

put the drive in another computer, format the drive as FAT16, put drive back in computer and install from windows DVD

what do you mean by controller is set to IDE?

I have tried the HDD in another comp and it worked fine.

Am hoping there is another solution as i really really dont want to format the drive.

oh I have also replaced the battery...
 


Do you remove one HDD recently? I did have the dell PC before and if i removed one of them, I got same thing. And you need go to the BIOS disable the SATA port.
