Vantec UGT-ST622 Asmedia 106x SATA Controller will not boot

February 22, 2013 3:40:50 PM

I have this Vantec UGT-ST622 4-Port 2-Channel SATA-3 PCIe Card.

My Motherboard is Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H (v 1.1), latest BIOS, All drives are in SATA mode, 2 drives are in RAID0 mode. 5 SATA + 1 eSata = all has drives connected

1. If no drive attached to the SATA card, card's BIOS shows No Device Found, computer turns on fine

2. If one or two HDD connected to SATA card, it detects them correctly, next MOBO's RAID's bios shows raid found etc, then cursor blinks on a blank screen. Computer doesn't go any further. I conected 1TB SATA-2 drive, which works fine on eSATA. Tried other drives, same issue.

3. w/HDD connected to SATA card if I go to MOBO's BIOS, 'Advance BIOS Option' menu item is missing from the BIOS main screen. So no HDD settings are available.

Is this the SATA card that is problematic or my MOBO is the problem. What could be the problem and solution? I will appreciate your help. Thank you
