Hi,

just buy a new battery and see if it does the trick. Many motherboards won't boot once the voltage of the RTC battery has gone below a certain voltage (normally somewhere between 2.8 and 2.9V) but *do* actually start without any battery...

Hi

do you mean Windows does not get to desktop and crashes or freezes ?
or
PC never gets as far as booting from hard disk

If you get to desktop is clock date time correct ?
(if not reset to correct date time)
corrupt cmos clock settings [nonsense date/time] can stop Windows loading

Have you cleared cmos [jumper]
or re-loaded bios defaults (in bios)
after changing battery
[clear cmos jumper left on clear pins will cause problems]
