Wireless networking range

Hello,
i have a spare linksys wrt300n wireless i am not useing as i recently got a linksys E2000 wireless router to hopefully combat my signal dropping upstairs on my laptop alot.Unfortunatly i think the wrt300n was better than the new e2000 for keeping a signal,so i am asking if i can use the wrt300n as a upstairs access point for my laptop and printer combining it with the e2000,and if it can be done how do i set this up?

update the firmware with the one from DD-WRT which will allow you to configure the router in Bride mode
