Hi guys, here's my system:

*i5-2500K
*Xigmatek Loki
*ASUS P8Z68-V Pro
*MSI Twin Frozr II 6950
*G.Skill Ripjaw 16GB
*Crucial M4 128GB
*3x2TB Seagate RAID5
*Corsair HX650
*Zalman Z9 Mid-Tower
EDIT:*Windows 7 x64

I've had Crysis 2 for about a week now and everything has been running fine (it's installed on the M4 if that matters). I play on ultra settings at 1600x900 resolution. Today, though, while I was playing the whole system restarted out of nowhere. I figured it was just a fluke but then a couple hours later the same thing happened again. I watch my temps and everything seems fine - GPU stays around 60-65 and CPU around 35-40.

Any ideas or any other information that I need to give?

2 things to do - run memtest86+ to check for ram problems, and run your hard drive manufacturers diagnostic to check for bad sectors (or whatever the equivelant is for SSD's). Try re-install the game again.

There is no BSOD - it just restarts. I go right from in-game to off without any warning and then the system starts itself back up.

I'm not that familiar with the Event Viewer but here are the errors that I found in chronological order. I looked for things at 11:16:55 AM and 2:44:20 PM because those seem to be the times of the shutdowns, but there isn't anything at all in the log (not even warnings or informational entries) at those times or close before them.

There is one malware possibility that I would like you to test for to see if you have a certain set of malware installed that is messing up the computer.

In the search bar in vista type MSCONFIG and see if that crashes the computer and restarts it.

If it doesn't, look through the Startup tab for something resembling these things:
Tok-Cirrhatus
Bron-spizaetus
Empty

If you see anything irregular at all in there then mention it, but definitely if you see those things.

Also, I would like you to go to the Control Panel, System, Advanced System Settings, Advanced Tab, Startup and Recovery Settings, Settings, and uncheck "Automatically Restart" if it is checked.

After you do that, try to crash it again.

@Raiddin MSCONFIG didn't crash anything and I didn't find anything suspicious in the startup tab. However, "Automatically Restart" was checked and I unchecked it. I will play for a while and see if I get a crash.

I did get another crash. Instead of restarting, though, it just froze. There was no BSOD - it just froze up.

Read the error messages when this happens and write what they say.

The BCCode is particularly helpful, though anything you can get is nice. File names are especially good too.

Hi team. memtest showed now errors and I couldn't find anything wrong with my drive. I also couldn't really find any error messages other than the ones in my second post (although I am not an expert troubleshooter and it's likely that they just eluded me).

I wiped my drive and reinstalled windows. Not the most elegant solution, but all is well now.

This is an old thread and I'm only adding to it for "archival" purposes. It turns out that the problem was the power supply. For the last two years I kept thinking I had it fixed and then a couple weeks later I would get another restart. The problem was definitely the power supply, though. I'm 100% sure.
