AMD Fusion, what Intel CPU is it comparable to

Hey guys,
I was wondering what Intel CPU the AMD Fusion was comparable to ?

Is it more powerful than the Core 2 Duo ?
Is it right up there with the core i3 ?

  1. Depends on what you are doing. The IGP in the fusion processor kills off anything on intels side. However, the processor performance is no where near the core i3 which puts it up against the much older core 2 duo processors.
  2. wow that was fast, thanks for replying.

when you say older core 2 duo processors, does that mean the later models might be even faster than the AMD Fusion ?
the one in question is the AMD Fusion E-300 1.3GHz.
  3. That is the lowest end of fusion cpu's.
  4. so would a core 2 duo e8400 3.0GHz beat the AMD Fusion E-300 1.3GHz ?
  5. beat?, it will destroy it!
    see this BM http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/56?vs=328
  6. 2 different categories of cpu. e-300 was meant to compete with atom prcessors
  7. haha damn,

they're both selling for around 200 on geeks.com
i figured they'd be up to par with each other.

    thanks for the help !
  8. the e- series fusion chips were mainly designed for tiny low power usage, they aren't meant as a desktop machine other than internet browsing.

even the motherboard is friggin microscopic in comparison.
  9. You're talking about totally different CPUs here. The E8400 was a performance oriented desktop processor. I think it was the second fastest Core 2 Duo released.

The AMD Fusion is designed for low power consumption. Its most suitable deployment is in a notebook for people with modest performance needs, but want more graphical grunt than any intel based notebooks can provide.

The E300/E350 come with their own motherboards and graphics.

The A4 X2 3400 will be quite close to the performance of the E8400 while only costing $70. Whatever you do, don't waste money on a core 2 cpu.

    70 dollars where ?
just the CPU by it self or as a desktop ?
  12. That's just the cpu itself but you should be able to pick up a whole system based on one pretty cheaply. Searching for the a4 3400 on newegg.com shows these results - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=a4+3400&x=0&y=0

It can run BF3 at lower resolution and medium settings too - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO1wg2jgGos

Nice value for an entry level pc.
