Hi all,

I have just finished building my 1st PC... Just wanting to check the updates I'll need, please.

My Motherboard and SSD will need any BIOS/Firmware updates applied - will any other components require this?

I'll then install chipset, audio, lan & graphics drivers + my motherboard utilities.

Is there anything else I need before I install my anti-virus and applications?

Many thanks!

The motherboard will come with a bios already installed and you don't have to update it unless you are having problems with it. The SSD is the same and you would update the firmware if there was a problem. After installing the drivers and utilities and then the applications the last thing you want to install is the anti virus. On the motherboard when installing the utilities you don't have to install them all if you don't think you will use them , you have the cd so if later on you wan't anything that you didn't install you can. The motherboard cd also comes with an anti-virus program but a lot of times it is a trial version so can choose to install it or not.

Download the drivers before the install. Makes things faster and easier.

Don't bother with BIOS/Firmware , unless something doesn't work right!

Install W7.
Install drivers -- all of them.
Apply updates.

If everything works, make a recovery disc and back up.

Do not forget to create a password reset disk, it takes only a minute.

Install all of the programs and make a back up again.
