I'd like to know about your experience playing bf3 on 6990. Has the latest drivers made game play better or is it still screwed up?????

The latest driver update improves scaling and performance a lot they also say it removes some stuttering issues. The drivers from AMD are so good the 6970 is on par with the GTX580 in the recent benchmarks.Nvidia is a little behind it seems.

Awesome review...thanks!!!! Now I wonder how well it does eyefinty on three 23" led, 1080p monitors..

I doubt you can maintain 60+fps with such a large resolution.BF3 is just to demanding for that at this time. The only way I see that possible is to add another 6970 to the crossfire.
Also in that video,if you didn't catch it,he said he was using high settings for all the tests.

Why would it matter getting the 6970 crossfire. Wait, your saying add a 6970 to the mix. Ive seen many youtube videos of 6970crossfired and 6950's cf that have 3 monitors.. I guess I could always add the other card at a later date if need be..
MORE MONEY>. dam.

Yes I mean add a 6970 to the 6990.So technically you'd have x3 6970's.

Have a look at the BFBC2 fps in this benchmark.

BF 3 is quite a bit more demanding than BFBC2 but it gives you a general area of what it would look like.

Nice. Thanks for all your imput.

So do you own a 6990?

Do you have the benches to back up those remarks about the 580gtx being on par with a 6970? Honestly i dont buy it.

No I don't own a 6990.I don't think dual GPU cards are worth it,imo they have terrible cooling.

Look at the video I posted above. It has all the info.I know I found it hard to believe myself but I guess Nvidia fell behind on their drivers for the time being.

I own a 6990 and a HP LP3065 1600p display. They are an awesome combination, highly recommended. I can play BF3 with mostly ultra settings and a couple of things set on high, though strictly no AA, and get between 50-90 FPS, with an average of 60+. I would not be satisfied playing BF3 with less than 60 FPS. At 1600p you don't need AA, the detail is extraordinary anyway. All the other settings, such as AO, are set to max.

I don't feel I need to add another 6970 (3-way Xfire) to achieve a very good frame rate for BF3, or Skyrim. Yeah, the 6990 runs hot, and it's pretty noisy (compared to the 5870 it replaced), but you can't hear it over the dull roar of explosions and gunfire in BF3.

My specs:
Asus P6T Deluxe
i7 920 @ 3.6Ghz
6Gb 1333 RAM
AMD 6990
2 x 1Tb HDD

Well since I posted this I've built my pc and have added two 6970 cards. I play on three 23" HD monitors in eyefinity and I maxed out all settings and the game is awesome!!!
