I currently have the following card in my computer (built a year and a half ago).

VGA XFX| HD-587X-ZNFV HD5870 1G R

I am looking for another 5870 card so that I can crossfire the two. However, I am having difficulty finding a card to buy. Anyone know where I can find one. Looks like they stopped making it.

Thanks

You can't find them new anymore. I am going to sell mine it's not even a year old. It's a Sapphire 1 GB. Never been overclocked or tweaked in anyway and has worked perfectly for me. I'll update this post when it's on Ebay. Ebay is about your only option at this point.

Yep, they have been discontinued. Your best bet is craigslist or ebay.

If you can find one on craigslist, you will pay much less than ebay, as sellers on CL don't always know what they have. The 5870s on ebay will run you more than you want to pay (probably)

Another option, since your card is now a scarcity, would be to sell your card and get a 6950 instead. You won't have too much of a problem finding those around.

I was wondering if the 6970 will be around long. I would be willing to pick one of these up and then sell my old 5870

or maybe 2 6870's and crossfiring them

The 6970 is still quite new, and should hopefully be around for quite a while.

The next generation of AMD cards (HD 7xxx) is set to come out soon, so it is hard to say for sure which current cards will persist.

2 6870s will get you excellent performance at the moment, and you wouldn't have to worry about future availability, but you also wouldn't have an upgrade path (outside of new cards).

If you get a 6970 (or 6950) and watch carefully, you may be able to pick up a second one for cheap in the future when they drop the prices to clear out the old inventory.
