Hello friends, it's time for advice again. A few weeks ago I recently made a change in my system. I went from having three video cards to just one, and I was wondering if downgrading to a different power supply would save money on my light bill? It's not gonna be a total loss in money bcuz I can always sell my current psu. I will list my specs and then get more specific.

OLD system:

Phenom 980 oc @ 4 ghz
16Gb ram Corsair XMS3 1600
PowerColor 6870x2
MSI GTX 460 (Physx)
Kingwin Lazer 1000w PS
Agility 3, 240gb SSD
600gb Velociraptor
1.5tn Caviar Black
2x 640gb Caviar Black
Antec 1200
Vigor Monsoon III

My new system has a GTX 680 replacing the 6870x2 and the GTX 460. I am not needing nearly as much power and my current psu is only bronze certified while the new psu I want is rated at gold. I don't need a new psu bcuz my old one crapped out on me, on the contrary, it has run like a champ, I've never had any problems with it. I'll give the links to my current card and the one I'm thinking about purchasing, and let me know what's on your mind. Thanx

Solution
The savings would not be worth it! Your rig is using the same amount of power out of both PSU's. The savings on the light bill because of efficiency would not be much maybe a couple of bucks a year if left on 24/7!
