I just came home from uni and my housemate had plugged in a USB memory stick and as soon as he plugged it into the usb port it turned the laptop off and it has not been able to boot since. I noticed there was a pin on the usb port actually touching the side of the usb port and had been bent. I was wondering what i could do to try to rectify the situation.

Thank you very much :)

with usb plugged in your laptop is probably trying to boot from it
unplug the usb flash drive and try to boot or go to bios and set the boot order correctly (your main drive first)

It's been unplugged, as i was saying the pin from the actualy USB port is touching the outer case of the usb port and i think it's short circuiting or something. I'm not a "Pro" where laptops are concerned so i was wondering if you have any advice on the matter :)
