Dual Opteron 6272 on Supermicro H8DGI - need help to fix a problem

Hello,

I been reading on video rendering and it seems Opteron is pretty much best bang for the buck. Here is my problem.

This is not in any way a new configuration, I see many websites even sell the same configuration PCs.

CPU - Dual Opteron 6272
Motherboard - Supermicro H8DGI (latest BIOS rev C, also tried with previous versions)
Video - Quadro 600 (latest drivers, also tested with ATI and other Nvidia cards)
Software - Windows 7 PRO 64 bit

The problem:

With 2 Opteron 6272 installed - Windows Experience Index cannot complete windows media encoding process and finishes with errors.
With 2 Opteron 6128 installed - Windows Experience Index completes without any error.
With 2 Opteron 6272 installed in 4-core mode (total 16 cores, BIOS setting) - Windows Experience Index completes without any error.

It seems that Windows Experience Index crashes only when more then 16 cores used. I really doubt that all these websites selling same motherboard/CPU configuration have their Windows Experience Index not working

Supermicro and Microsoft support don't know how to fix it.

Could anyone point me to right direction with this one?

everything else works ok, but as H-264 encoding fails via WEI it screws up interface in general too. The whole windows acts as I use generic video card.

same problem occurs with any 16+ core solution on Windows 7. I read from anandtech that people have same issue with Intel too.

thing is that many who sells these dual CPU solutions have it somehow fixed. I even sent e-mails to their support, but nothing.

Supermicro and Microsoft are clueless as usual. Microsoft sent some patches to try, but no use.

no WEI in there

64bit Win7 supports up to 256 cores, but WEI does not over 16. probably something to do with windows native h.264 encoding tied to WEI. We reinstalled media pack aswell, no help.

Honestly I don't understand why H.264 encoding is tied to WEI. Can the application be limited to 16 cores? Aren't there encoding applications that can use 32 cores or more?

yes they can use 32, 64 etc. it's something with Windows WEI and H.264, that much I found out.
