I have been searching but cant seem to find much info on the differences between the Hyper 212 Plus and the new Evo... The specs seem to be nearly identical besides a very small increase in cfm. Is it worth the nearly double cost difference?

PSU - I will be running an i5 2500k OC to about 4.4 ish, dual 560ti gpu, high resolution for a 47" 1080p HDTV. 8GB (dual 4GB) 1600 ram, with likely adding 8GB in the future. 1 SSD, and 1 SATA 2TB HD, Dual Optical Drives for duplicating and dual burning etc. What sort of watt requirement should I be looking for? I found a calculator that recommended 650 but have read threads/posts recommending 850+?

Thanks for your help!

The difference in the 212+ and the EVO is the lack of grooves on the base of the EVO version. They perform nearly identically. I have both in similar systems and see virtually no difference in effectiveness.

If you buy a quality PSU, like a Seasonic, then a 650W PSU will do the trick. Not all PSUs are created equally and you get what you pay for.

Check one of these out:

I ran another forum user's build with a similar component list thru the extreme calculator and came up with 720 watts. Ya have to remember OC'ing a CPU adds over 40 watts......overclocking a 560 can add close 100 watts per card.

I have been doing a lot of 2500k (4.6 - 4.8GHz) builds of late w/ twin 560 Ti's OC'd to 1000Mhz+. All but one had an 850......it had a 750 and I had overlocking issues with it. To be fair, the 750 was a Corsair TX750 .... the others all had CP-850's or HX850's which of course is a step up with them both getting 10.0 performance ratings from jonnyguru.

USing the calculator....

2500k @ 4.8 Ghz (1.41 v) w/ twin 560 Ti, 4 sticks RAM, 1 BR player, 1 DVD-RW, 1 HD/SSD, 1 TV tuner, 5 USB, 1 firewire, card reader, (6) 120mm fans and 15% capacitor aging came to 762 watts .... and that doesn't include overclocking the GFX cards

At this point in time, I don't think there's anything up to the price / performance ratio of this combo

Case - $ 120 - Antec DF-85 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129087
PSU - $ 115 - Antec CP-850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371024

As far as the cooler....

$30 Hyper 212
$50 Scythe Mugen 3 or Hyper 612 PWM ... gets ya 5-7C better than the 212
$80 Thermalright Silver Arrow .... gets ya 7-10C cooler than the 212 and dead silence
