How to increase sound quality over skype?

When I use audacity, my voice sounds great, but over skype the quality of the microphone is not as good. It's okay, but not great. Any suggestions?

Depends on the nature of the degradation in audio quality. Some cases are caused due to low bandwidth when connecting to the Internet. So, first make sure you have good connection to the Internet and try to avoid using low bandwidth wireless networks. In other cases, the problem is caused due to the nature of VoIP call - e.g. echo & background noise. In this case you can try using headsets and/or use a dedicated noise reduction software for VoIP calls like SoliCall Pro - http://www.solicall.com/products.html#AddOnPro

Whats the codec? I mean, the audio is going to compressed to holy hell most of the time to cut down bandwidth. Nevermind that most audio solutions on the PC don't care too much about audio input quality...
