Whats the codec? I mean, the audio is going to compressed to holy hell most of the time to cut down bandwidth. Nevermind that most audio solutions on the PC don't care too much about audio input quality...
Depends on the nature of the degradation in audio quality. Some cases are caused due to low bandwidth when connecting to the Internet. So, first make sure you have good connection to the Internet and try to avoid using low bandwidth wireless networks. In other cases, the problem is caused due to the nature of VoIP call - e.g. echo & background noise.
