Hello,

I have 2 of the following monitors:

ASUS VE278Q Black 27" Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor

I was considering purchasing a ASUS VG278H

The theory is that I can use 2d surround by having the 120 Hz mode of the ASUS VG278H run in a lower frequency I can use all three monitors in 2d surround. Then when I want to watch a 3d blueray or play a 3d game (not 3d surround) I can just use the center monitor (the ASUS VG278H) for that and can still have my other monitors running on the side. I have 2 gtx 570s that will be driving this.

Before I purchase the ASUS VG278H when it gets out I wanted to check with you guys to see if this makes sense and should work. Otherwise I will just get another ASUS VE278Q.

Thanks in advance

Hey Judo.

That'll work fine. You'll have to go in your Nvidia control panel and set your "center" monitor as the default gaming monitor. Keep in mind that you'll need to purchase a 3D Vision kit to watch 3D videos (achievable with software like PowerDVD 11) or play 3D games. Well worth it in my opinion. Your SLi setup should let you run most games with good FPS.

I have a similar setup (but with 2 monitors) and it all works fine.

I am looking at doing the same configuration, but with 2 x gtx 470 sli'd. Did this landscaped'd 3 monitors in 2 d surround work with 2 x ve278q and 1 x vg278h?

I agree, but it does look like the 3D Vision 2 kit comes with it.
