Hello community!

So at the moment I am on my spare computer, (an aging HP Pavilion a1730n) with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU rated at 2.4GHz and a Nvidia 8800GT that I installed myself along with an upgraded power supply. At the current moment, the card is idling at around 65C, which is hot, even for an 8800GT. I have speedfan on the computer to control the dismal rear exhaust fan an MSI to control the card fan, which is set to only blast the fan above 66-67C, so it will be quiet when idle, yet do what it is supposed to when gaming. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to aid the ventilation a bit. The thermal paste is new as of a few months ago and it ran fine in my main build when my Radeon 6950 was not working (then it started working, then I decided I might as well upgrade the spare computer at my grandma's house so I could play over here, she has a Mac though). Its not a really big deal, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Thanks
-Gunner

i guess one thing i can tell you is, clean the dust.
then organize the wirings so it wouldnt be so cluttered inside.

besides that...
get more fan inside the case? lol

thats really all i can tell you...

or punch some holes through the case.

If you already cleaned the dust and replaced the thermal paste then poor airflow is probably the cause.

Well it is a stock HP case, not much room to put any fans or anything. I might have to organize it a bit. Thanks for the advice

Just leave the door off of it.If it's one of those micro-atx case's that HP often use's then it's no place for a high powered card for a 8800GT.Since their's only 1 fan you can try replacing that but if it's anything less than a 120mm don't worry about it.
