Hello,
Will an ATI Radeon HD 5570 play the sims 3 well? I need a graphics card that will play the game amazing, have good graphics and no lagging. Is this a good one?

Solution

Ah yeah, what i meant was, the card itself isn't strong enough to use the whole 1g of vram, you will be bottlenecked by the speeds on the card before the 1g of ram will come into play

And im not sure what the future holds nor do i know what games you want to play, but ive been using my 5670 for about a year and its held up quite nicely, i might have to tweak a few settings to medium but still, i feel ive gotten my moneys worth. Not bad for a...

@donald
Gaming resolution is the monitor's native resolution you run it. For example 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1080, and so on.

To assist you with your purchase and a good GPU, please list all your system specs (CPU,RAM,Motherboard) with model numbers if available.

I wasn't sure what all of that was so i copied you half of my dxdiag. Tell me if you need the whole thing. I'm now thinking of getting the ATI Radion 5670. I found one with a good price on ebay let me know if it will work with my pc. The card comes with 1gb ram. Let me know if you need any more details. Please reply asap as I am trying to get a card asap i'm dying to play my game again.

I completely trust your opinion, but why do you recommend the 5750? Does it run better than the 5670? Are the graphics better or the same?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/XFX-ATI-Radeon-HD-5750-HD-575X-ZMF3-1-GB-GDDR5-SDRAM-PCI-Express-2-1-x16-/330638298001?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4cfb940b91

Is this the same one? I think it is its just cheaper :)

Yes it's the same but it's used and cooling sucks and the one i linked has better cooling.
yes HD 5750 is performing better in games, as you can see from the benchmarks below the HD 5750 is in top of the HD 5670, higher is better.

ok well if you remmend it I will definatly purchase this one. I strongly appreciate your opinions. Now I know one of the has a gig and one has 512mb. Does it make a difference? Does the 1gb run faster than the 512mb? is 512mb enouph for quite a bit of sims games?

for this card, there is no difference between the 1g and the 512mb... on more expensive cards yes but on this one, not a bit. buy whichever is cheaper... however one thing that you MUST pay attention to, is what DDR# you are buying, buy ONLY DDR5 cards, anything below and they are just ripping you off and you are just wasting money :)

I'm soo sorry for all the questions. So what I guess what i'm asking is 512mb more than enouph to run my sims games? i have 6 games, and I plan to keep collecting. So in a year I won't run into memory problems? Will 512mb hold all my games, and they will run smooth with no lagging at all?

Ah yeah, what i meant was, the card itself isn't strong enough to use the whole 1g of vram, you will be bottlenecked by the speeds on the card before the 1g of ram will come into play

And im not sure what the future holds nor do i know what games you want to play, but ive been using my 5670 for about a year and its held up quite nicely, i might have to tweak a few settings to medium but still, i feel ive gotten my moneys worth. Not bad for a 60 dollar card :D
