Was there really any other choices?

Your core components are the best currently when it comes to bang for your buck. There is no doubt that you should be set for the next 2 years with that build, and can currently max just about any game on the market, easy. With one 6970, I was maxing BF3 in 1080p. You may do even better.

Congratulations, you are about to be the proud owner of a high-end gaming rig.

Yeah my build is very similar to yours and I am running with a 650 from Corsair. It also doesn't run too loud, not from my own computer but someone else's I helped to build. azeem40's next step up is a good choice as well.

Also, keep in mind that the "next-gen" period for PC gaming starts about 6 months before consoles. People are expecting the next-gen consoles to be released anywhere from 18-24 months from now.

I would expect another "Far Cry", and I am not necessarily referring to Far Cry 3 (remember, Far Cry was the game that ushered in the current generation of PC gaming). Far Cry was a system crusher (same people who went on to develop Crysis), and many people had to upgrade to Geforce 6xxx just to play it well.

I would expect you can max every game now, max most games a year from now, be playing at a high visual quality 2 years from now, and probably still be running games 4 years from now. Obviously, these are just estimates.

In any case, that is going to be one nice rig. ;)
