I bought a new motherboard (ASRock B75M-GL Micro ATX LGA1155) and it has no IDE port to connect my dvd/cd rom drive (Hitachi HDP725040GLA).

Would I be best to purchase a new dvd/cd rom drive and if so could you recommend a good, inexpensive one?

I use it for gaming and burning the odd disk.

Thanks in advance

You have a few options here, but the best and most inexpensive would be to get a new DVD.
1. Get a PCIe IDE controller card.
2. Get an external case for the DVD.
3. Get a new SATA DVD. :)

A new DVD-R costs like $20:

Hi Ngrego,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I think it makes sense to get a new DVD drive.

I'm in the UK. Any recommedations of a drive I can get over here from amazon.co.uk or somewhere like that?

i agree, get a new one. less hassle. better than getting other accessories just to make things fit, which will most likely you will never use again

Optical drives are really cheap, I would trust any one myself. No matter which one you choose, you will get at least 4-5 years out of it!
