Pretty simple....

What socket will Intel Ivy Bridge use?

I am trying to figure out what board I want to buy if the boards are already out on the market, BUT I have also heard that if they are going to use 1156 socket the models that are out right now may not support some feature the Ivy Bridge will offer?

The name is correct, I am a newbie/baddie I am trying to step up my game.

Thanks for all who respond.

Solution
To get all the benefits of the 3rd generation Intel® Core™ processors you most likely will want to get a Z77 chipset based board. Since these boards are already out you can feel safe in picking one up right now as you with the upcoming release. Otherwise you can get a Z68 board and may get support for PCI-E 3.0.
